Christine Pena’s commitment to professional excellence at Health Information Partners® (H.I.P.) is backed by over twenty years of Health Information Management (HIM) experience with emphasis on Coding Compliance,  DRG and Coding Validation, OIG and RAC focus areas and Documentation. Christine is a third generation native San Franciscan who received her Baccalaureate degree in San Francisco and then worked in her original field of study for 7 years. She then made the decision to return to night school in order to pursue studies in HIM.

Christine started off in HIM with her first position as a “Clerk II.” She later moved to Sonoma, CA, where she obtained her first coding position in this region. 

Christine had found her niche, and joined the field when it the earlier stages of increasing impact on reimbursement, disease statistics and changing utilization of health information.  She thoroughly enjoys interacting with hospital staff, physicians, as well as indirectly with patients via achieving high quality health data.  She is dedicated to the challenge of finding solutions, developing new and streamlining existing departmental processes, and initiating positive communication methods with HIM directors, coders, and physicians.

• Critical Care Documentation Seminar Physician instructor
• Certified Coding Instructor & Facilitator and Coding Manager
• Conducting auditing, training, and coding functions at over 50 acute care facilities in California, Oregon, Nevada and Arizona
